Our Affordable Therapy Program offers lower-cost counselling provided by Master of Social Work (MSW) practicum students. At Bay View Therapy Centre, we designed this program so that cost isn’t a barrier to getting help.

Sessions are led by Master’s-level Social Work students who work closely with experienced supervisors, ensuring that therapy is safe, ethical and professionally guided. You receive thoughtful, evidence-informed care — in a way that feels approachable, collaborative, and financially realistic.

Sessions in this program are offered at $65 per hour.

If $65 is outside your budget, please email info@bayviewtherapy.ca to discuss a sliding-scale, pay-what-you-can option. We want therapy to remain accessible whenever possible.

How it works?

An MSW practicum is a structured, supervised placement where graduate-level social work students gain hands-on clinical experience while completing their degrees.

At Bay View Therapy Centre, practicum students:

• meet regularly with an experienced clinician

• receive guidance on treatment planning and client care

• follow professional, ethical, and safety standards

• work collaboratively and at a pace that respects your needs

This supervision ensures that every session is supported, intentional, and grounded in best practices. This model allows clients to receive quality, affordable care, while also helping train the next generation of mental health professionals.

Who this program is for

This program is ideal for individuals seeking support with:

• Stress, overwhelm, or burnout

• Anxiety, worry, or mild depression

• Life transitions (school, work, relationships, parenting, loss)

• Coping strategies and building healthy boundaries

Who this program is not for

The Affordable Therapy Program is not designed for individuals seeking support for:

• Severe mental health conditions

• Individuals seeking trauma therapy

• Active addictions

• Crisis intervention

Getting started

We’ll learn what you’re looking for and answer questions about the program.

2️⃣ We match you with a therapist

We consider fit, focus areas, and availability.

3️⃣ Start therapy

Sessions may be in-person in Barrie or Orillia or online (depending on availability and your preference).

Program Update

Our Affordable Therapy Program is currently on pause while we recruit new student and qualifying therapists.

We hope to welcome new therapists to the program in Fall 2026. If you would like to be notified when appointments become available, please contact our office and we would be happy to add you to our interest list.
