International Women’s Day: Supporting Women’s Mental Health in Barrie & Orillia

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in our communities. It is also an opportunity to recognize the importance of supporting women’s mental health and well-being at every stage of life.

At Bay View Therapy Centre, we support women navigating many life experiences, including anxiety, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, grief, and major life transitions. Many women also experience unique mental health challenges related to motherhood, postpartum adjustment, and parenting.

The transition into motherhood can be deeply meaningful, but it can also bring significant emotional and physical changes. Many new mothers experience feelings of overwhelm, exhaustion, anxiety, or shifts in identity as they adjust to caring for a new baby. Postpartum mental health challenges such as anxiety or depression are more common than many people realize, and support during this time can make a meaningful difference.

Parenting at any stage can bring stress, self-doubt, and pressure to “do everything right.” Therapy can provide a supportive space to talk openly, build coping strategies, strengthen self-compassion, and reconnect with your own needs alongside the needs of your family.

Using evidence-based approaches such as trauma-informed therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and EMDR, therapy can help women manage stress, process difficult experiences, and move toward greater balance and well-being.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the resilience of women and the importance of accessible mental health support.

At Bay View Therapy Centre, we are proud to support women’s mental health through compassionate therapy services in Barrie and Orillia.
